Biolathon is Biola University’s first annual dance marathon. The concept resembles a running marathon, however, rather than running for an extended distance, students commit to dancing for an extended period of time for the duration of the event. Rather than a walk-a-thon, it's a dance-a-thon!
This year’s event will last 12 hours and take place on May 6th, 2017 at the Production Center. There will be food, DJs, performances, games, guest speakers from our sponsored cause, and smaller dance/fitness workshops. Participants will be introduced to a number of different dance styles including hip-hop, swing, line dancing, zumba--and more! The event will go from morning until night.
In order to participate, individuals sign up to become a sponsored ‘dancer,’ and commit to an individual fundraising goal. With everyone's personal fundraising goals combined, we end up bringing in a substantial amount of funds that all go directly to our sponsored cause.
The purpose of Biolathon is to raise money for gang intervention and after school programs in the city of Los Angeles by sponsoring two non-profits: Homeboy Industries and In The City. You can learn about these two organizations by clicking on “Our Beneficiaries.”
